Tomorrow is a big day for fiction. A great many of my writer friends, and I, wrote heartfelt creative pieces for the Vocal+ Fiction Contest. I have only just begun entering these contests.
This entry didn’t make the finals for the one they did about barn owls, but I was rather proud my piece. Weirdly, Vocal marked it as horror, but I did not intend that. I meant it as a mental illness fiction piece about living with anxiety. Well, I guess sometimes that is a horror. I also shared it on Medium and it seems to be more well-received over there.
But my entry for the Fiction Contest did MUCH better! And, tomorrow is the day they'll announce the winners! There were 13,000 entries and 1025 were chosen for the shortlist, including mine. Tomorrow, 25 of those shortlisted will be announced as winners… and those 25 winners receive 5K! I sure could use a win right now.
Give it a read and a share? PRETTY PLEASE??? Here’s the link for my story:
For any of you who have entered this Vocal+ Fiction contest, I wish you the best of luck. Please, do, let us all know if you win! (Oh trust…if I win, you will hear ALL about it!)
Especially after $2500 in veterinary care expenses in the past TEN DAYS! If you haven’t read about what’s been going on with Josie (the sweetest and most wonderful little doggie ever) then you can read about it all right here and right here.
Thanks for being here. And for being a part of my writing journey. If you need a little support for your own writing, whether professionally or creatively, you can follow my Medium account where I share lots of writing advice, or you can join The Poet’s Lair community (get some merch with your membership!) for ongoing literary assisstance.
Love to all,
Christina M. Ward, author and poet
