Dear friends,
This was a terrifying piece for me to write. I am at risk of alienating myself from family and friends. I am at risk of terrible scrutiny and trolling. I hope that whether you agree with me or not, you will support me in speaking my truth today; honestly and bravely.

I am a Christian too.
To the Lady Who Called Me a Snowflake Today,
Somehow you have decided that I am not a good person because I do not vote like you do. This, I simply do not understand. You see, I am a Christian too, and as your Christian sister I am especially hurt that you call me names in the name of God. I know our God well enough to know that this is not His way.
I know Jesus well enough to know that he would not embrace the political flag you are waving at me. He would be more concerned about love. He would be concerned about charity, faith, and how we treat our fellow man — all of them, not just the white ones that serve the same God we do.
He would chastise greed and selfishness and hatred. These are not honorable reasons for policies; they are flaws.
I want you to know that I forgive you and I know that you think that cheering for your team is the Christian thing to do; but God does not belong to a political party. Surely you must know this?
Thank you,
Christina M. Ward,
concerned Christian
