This past week I started recycling and improving my Medium content. But, I’m not republishing these pieces on Medium. I am taking my informative writing work to Hubpages.
Here’s what I’ve posted so far.

Note: I learned of HubPages from some of our own Medium writers: Shaunta Grimes, Abena Talks, and Kristina God. A hearty thank you to these three women writers who are making waves with their work!
One of the things we writers must do is reevaluate our work. We have to be honest with ourselves when something simply isn’t working. We can do like Taylor Swift and take our works back “into the studio.” We can revamp old pieces or rewrite some of the newer ones that flopped — but we cannot do this when we cling too tightly to our work and refuse to admit even small defeats.
I’ll be honest here, Medium has been very good to me. Although in the past year, those benefits have not been financial. Right now in my life, the financial benefits are becoming more important — in fact, they are becoming necessary.
So, I’m taking a look at what pieces might perform well on HubPages.
Well-researched articles with an informative tone
SEO articles that have good potential for pulling in search volume
Highly-relatable articles on life hacks, relationships, or other clickable high-interest topics
These are some of the kinds of things I have been posting on Medium with high hopes, but have been , for one reason or another, falling flat on engagement or views. Plus, Medium is an in-house echo-chamber of ideas with certain topics rising to the top.
My interests and the interests of the Google-searching public are far more varied.
Artful Agenda is how I keep all my writing work organized. Check out Arftul Agenda — the customizeable calendar that’s fun and easy to use! (Affiliate link.)
So, while Medium is a perfectly fun place for writers and readers to enjoy…for more informative non-fiction, I find I need a new platform. HubPages is that place, for me.
If you are a reader of HubPages or a writer there, will you hop by and give me a follow? I will do the same for you.
Write on! Read on!
Love, in words,
Christina
I'm thinking of putting trying to write serious longform non-fic on there once I can figure out how to create a presence.
